I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas (#16913) and Louisiana (#4211) with over 20 years’ experience in the behavioral health field including supporting children, adolescents, adult’s, and families. My experience as an individual and group therapist includes a multitude of settings in private and outpatient therapy, therapeutic foster care, psychiatric hospitalization, an academic boarding program, a Christian private school, a residential program for survivors of sex trafficking and substance abuse treatment / re-entry programs.

Areas of specialized training include trauma recovery, cognitive behavioral therapy, PTSD, sexual abuse, ADHD, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, eating disorders, relationships, anger and stress management, team building, and effective communication.

As a Christian counselor, I utilize a person-centered holistic approach where I assist individuals in emotional, psychological, mental, behavioral, and spiritual growth. I believe that as we experience life, there are times of hardship, suffering and trials that God can use for His good. It is in those times of learning that we can grow and be conformed more into His image, develop a compassion for others and our purpose in life can be defined through the pain. I believe the Bible gives hope to overcoming issues we experience and is the true source of wisdom. I utilize scripture and prayer in counseling for those who express a desire for Christian counseling. I also respect and support those who do not seek counseling from a Christian perspective.

My approach in counseling is to support and partner with you as you process the experiences that have led to problem areas in life, the lies believed, and thinking that keeps you stuck in unwanted behaviors. It is my belief that there is always hope for the future! Particularly for children and adolescents, it is important to help them learn how to express and redefine their experiences so they do not develop false beliefs about their self and the world which can lead to lifelong destructive behavior patterns.

As an addition to my counseling specialties, I offer the experiential process of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Learning. As a mental health specialist, I incorporate this solution-focused model that utilizes the horse relationship in activities where the client, family or organization can relate their learning experience to personal life and identify changes needed to positively effect behavior and relationships. Learn more about this model at www.eagala.org. I accept individuals, children, adolescents, couples and families for counseling.
